SQL Database Administrator
London / permanent / Up to £70K

Harris Global are currently on the lookout for a SQL Database Administrator to work for one of our Wealth Management clients. This is a permanent opportunity working on a hybrid or fully remote basis in London.
Key Responsibilities:
Install and maintain the SQL Server environment to ensure optimal performance, high availability, and data integrity.
Monitor SQL Server logs, alerts, and performance metrics to identify potential issues and take proactive measures to prevent problems.
Take a key role in the infrastructure design required to run our SQL Server databases on premise and in Azure
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and network engineers, to ensure the integration and compatibility of SQL Server with other systems and applications.
Respond promptly to in and out-of-hours alerts, incidents, and service requests related to SQL Server operations, including but not limited to performance degradation, database errors, backups/restores, and security incidents.
Participate in the regular team out-of-hours monitoring schedule.
Identify and resolve root causes of recurring issues and implement preventive measures to minimise future incidents.
Document and maintain standard operating procedures, technical manuals, security posture, entity cataloguing and knowledge base articles related to SQL Server operations
Experience:
Strong understanding of SQL Server architecture, configuration, and maintenance
Proficiency in T-SQL programming, query optimisation, and performance tuning.
Experience with database backup and recovery procedures, including High Availability (HA) and Disaster Recovery (DR) solutions.
Confident with reporting and data visualisation tools such as PowerBI, SSRS, Tableau
Exposure to at least one other major programming language Python, C#, R etc
Exposure to Azure data hosting and tooling is preferable.
